Lecture: Why We Remember the Holocaust
Presented by Weston Historical Society as part of Memories of World War II Exhibit
The Weston Historical Society continues its film and lecture series as part of their Memories of World War II – an Exhibition Celebrating Weston’s Contributions to the War with ‘WHY WE REMEMBER THE HOLOCAUST’.
Agnes Vertes, child survivor of the Holocaust in Budapest, filmmaker, and President of Holocaust Child Survivors of Connecticut will join David Muller, former Weston Selectman and current Portfolio Manager at Ashmore Investment Management, for “Why We Remember The Holocaust” on Wednesday November 9th at 7:30 p.m. at the Weston Senior Center, located at 9 School Road, Weston, CT. The program features two short films “Why We Remember” and Vertes’ moving documentary “One Out of Ten”, followed by discussion. Vertes’ film provides an overview of the Holocaust through the stories of eight survivors from eight different countries who were children at the time.
David Muller’s grandfather, Felix, was arrested on Kristallnacht November 9, 1938 and sent to Buchenwald. Fortunately for the family, he was released and the Mullers made it safely to Switzerland.
