Man Charged In Connection With Woman's Suspicious Death In Redding

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man is facing charges including improper disposal of a body in connection with the suspicious death of a Bridgeport woman earlier this year.
The case began to unfold in mid-February, when a passerby found 26-year-old Leah Chapparo of Bridgeport dead in a wooded area on Glen Road in Redding, according to Connecticut State Police.
Through the investigation, detectives identified 50-year-old Sergio Reyes-Cordero of Norwalk as the person suspected of transporting Chapparo's body to Redding.

Reyes-Cordero was arrested July 12 in Georgia "on the strength of the extraditable arrest warrant held by the Connecticut State Police," police said.
He was then extradited to Connecticut, where he was charged with improper removal and disposal of a body and four counts of tampering with physical evidence.

Reyes-Cordero was held on a $500,000 bond and was scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 2 at Danbury Superior Court.
