Man Charged With Enticing A Minor After Meet-Up With Teen: Police

Guilford police said they launched an investigation with Weston police into online interactions between a 14-year-old boy and an adult man.

WESTON, CT — A 59-year-old Guilford man was arrested recently after police said he met up with a 14-year-old boy who stayed at his home on multiple occasions.

John Degennaro was charged with risk of injury to a minor and enticing a minor, and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, according to the Guilford Police Department.

The GPD launched a joint investigation with the Weston Police Department on Feb. 14 into online interactions between a 14-year-old boy and an adult man, Guilford police said in a news release Wednesday.

Investigators determined that the man, who was later identified as Degennaro, met the boy online using the Snapchat app, police said. Degennaro agreed to pay for an Uber to have the boy taken to the train station, police said, noting the boy took a train to New Haven where Degennaro picked him up.

Degennaro brought the boy to an area mall and purchased "thousands of dollars worth of items" for him, police said.

The boy stayed at Degennaro's home overnight on multiple occasions, police said.

"The investigation determined that Degennaro was soliciting the juvenile to be in an intimate relationship, including sexual contact and the exchange of nude photographs with the juvenile," police added. "During the investigation, it was determined that Degennaro had hidden cameras in his residence and was recording sexual activity without the knowledge or consent of other individuals."

Police are asking anyone who may have visited Degennaro's residence and believes they have been the victim of a crime to contact the Guilford Police Department's Detective Unit at 203-453-8243 for further assistance.

An investigation remains active, police said.
