Meadow Ridge Presents Latest Technology in Joint Replacement Surgery
Inaugural Live and Learn event for MAKOplasty®, invasive surgical treatment options for knee and hip replacements.
REDDING, Conn., (March 5, 2015) – On March 12 Meadow Ridge Senior Living Community will host a unique Live and Learn event exploring innovations in joint replacement. This special presentation will showcase MAKOplasty®, a minimally invasive surgical treatment option for knee and hip replacement. Three experts in the field, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Dr. John Dunleavy, and Dr. Robert Deveney, will discuss the benefits of the leading edge technique.
MAKOplasty® is an option for patients suffering from osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. This treatment helps preserve healthy bone, surrounding tissue and ligaments. MAKOplasty® will allow patients to recover in a shorter amount of time while providing them with visibly better results.
“We are very excited to host the Live and Learn event at Meadow Ridge. It is an informative and interactive way to help the residents better understand the technology innovations that can benefit them in the future,” said Michelle Bettigole, Executive Director at Meadow Ridge Senior Living Center.
Danbury Hospital is the first hospital in CT that has successfully performed MAKOplasty. Dr. Gupta serves as Director of the Joint Replacement Program at Danbury Hospital, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He completed a two year fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dunleavy received his Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine and Deveney received his from the State University of New York – Downstate. Dunleavy completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, HarvardUniversity. Deveney’s fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery was completed at Piedmont Hospital/Emory University School of Medicine.
