Meadow Ridge In Redding Opens New Mind And Memory Care Neighborhood

Meadow Ridge, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Redding, Conn., officially opened its new mind and memory care neighborhood Tuesday, offering unmatched care and individualized services for residents who are living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia.
The new neighborhood addresses the increased demand for safe, specialized care for those with memory impairment. The project was made possible with the opening of an all-new assisted living neighborhood at Meadow Ridge. The previous assisted living wing of the community was reimagined as a memory care neighborhood specifically designed for residents who are experiencing different forms of dementia.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new mind and memory care neighborhood,” said Christopher Barstein, Executive Director of Meadow Ridge. “We designed the new neighborhood in response to the growing need for compassionate memory care. Families can rest assured their loved one is cared for in a comfortable, secure setting that maintains a level of freedom and independence.”

From the thoughtfully designed layout to the therapeutic color choices and lighting, every element of the community is carefully crafted to consider the unique needs of the residents. The optimized environment creates a friendly, familiar, and engaging place for residents and families to create meaningful connections.

“We are so fortunate to have a place like Meadow Ridge for people in our area to know that they can transition to this kind of care if they have a need for it,” said Redding First Selectperson Julia Pemberton, who spoke at Tuesday’s ribbon cutting.

Led by a team of associates with highly specialized training in dementia care, residents of the new neighborhood receive individualized care, sensory dining options, daily activities and socialization, and customized programming that address the whole person and not just one's medical needs.

“Our new neighborhood offers person-centered care designed to meet all the unique needs of our residents,” said Barstein. “All memory care associates are trained in behavioral expression to teach them how to best understand and fulfill the residents’ needs. We are committed to the highest quality of resident care, connection and safety.
