When asked about his decision to support the Library, Black said, “I fell in love with Redding just as Mark Twain did, and have chosen to honor his and the town’s legacy by working with the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Mark Twain Library to make this little hub a home for all Reddingites.”

Black became a regular supporter of the Mark Twain Library while a resident here, founding and hosting one of its annual fundraisers, The Pudd’nhead Festival, which takes place in the Fall, and celebrates library founder and renowned American humorist, Mark Twain’s spirited words, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.”

“We are over the moon that Michael Ian Black chose to play ‘Celebrity Name That Tune’ naming the Mark Twain Library as his charity of choice,” beamed Library Director Erin Dummeyer. “This donation will help us continue to offer a wide array of programs, collections, and experiences to the Redding community, which is what Mark Twain intended.”

Fox Entertainment brought back the musical game show “Name That Tune” in 2021, which pits two contestants against one another in a musical guessing game. It is hosted by Tony Award actor Jane Krakowski with Grammy Award winner Randy Jackson as its band leader. In “Celebrity Name That Tune” each celebrity contestant selects a charity of their choosing to which any winnings will be donated.
