Missing Child: Top Of The Redding Police Blotter July 22-28

REDDING, CT — The search for a child in the woods and a couple of fraud investigations were atop the Redding police blotter July 22-28.

The Redding Police Department received a report of a child missing in a wooded area near their Mallory Lane residence at 12:30 p.m. on July 26. The child was found at 2:11 p.m.unharmed following an extensive search, Chief Mark O'Donnell said.

On July 26, a Hill Road/Route 107 resident complained to police about a wire fraud scam involving $14,400 moving between Charles Schwab Investment and Bethpage Federal Credit Union. The incident remains under investigation.

More attempted fraud: Also on July 26, an Old Redding Road resident told police someone opened up a Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer Card in her 3-year-old daughter's name. Also known as SUN Bucks or S-EBT, the card provides eligible families in Connecticut with $120 per child in cash assistance for food during the summer.
