Missing Opioids, Stolen iPhone, Top Redding Police Blotter June 13-19

REDDING, CT — Opioids gone missing from a senior living facility, and a stolen iPhone, were at the top of the Redding Police Department blotter last week.

The Redding Police Department is looking into 25 Percocet tabs either missing or stolen from the Meadow Ridge senior living facility at 100 Redding Road. The opioid painkillers were reported lost following a prescription drug count on June 13. The investigation remains open, pending video camera review, according to Chief Mark O'Donnell.

On June 17, someone stole an iPhone 13 in a rose-gold colored case, along with $40, from an unlocked car in the parking lot of Milestone Restaurant while the victim dined inside, according to a police report. The security camera footage is being reviewed by the RPD.

Redding police are searching for the driver of a blue-green BMW sedan they say rear ended a vehicle stopped at a traffic light on Route 107 on June 13. Police report that no one was injured in the hit-and-run.

On June 14, a motorist driving southbound on Route 107 went through the intersection with Route 53 and struck a dirt embankment. The driver told police he had fallen asleep, and was given a warning for unsafe movement of a motor vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A motorist driving southbound on Umpawaug Road on June 18 crossed the center line and damaged the exterior mirror of a vehicle moving in the opposite direction, according to police. The driver was issued a warning for failing to drive in the proper lane. No injuries were reported.

Police received a report of a vehicle colliding with a deer on Route 53 on June 15, but were unable to corroborate it. "The area was checked, the vehicle and deer were gone upon arrival," according to O'Donnell.

No additional details are available regarding a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of the West Redding Business District at Longridge Road on June 14, nor regarding the motorist police say lost control of their vehicle and drove into a drainage ditch off the northbound shoulder of Mountain Road on June 18.
