Motorcycles, Classic Cars, On Display At Easton EMS Charity Event
Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Services' 2nd annual Charity Motorcycle Ride with a Classic Car Show hits the road Saturday.
EASTON, CT — Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Services is revving up a hi-octane fundraiser for the weekend.
The 2nd annual Charity Motorcycle Ride with a Classic Car Show hits the road Saturday, Aug. 20, with a rain date the following day. Last year's event raised roughly $10,000 toward the volunteers' goal of replacing their 93-year-old headquarters.
The 36-mile parade of motorcycles will roll through the town and neighboring communities, and be escorted by police and ambulance while in Easton. Participants will have access to local foods trucks in the morning and after the ride. A $20 entry fee also gets motorists a custom EMS shirt. Registration is online.

Cars participating in the Classic Car Show may arrive as early as 9 a.m. to set up. For bikes, arrival time is at 10 a.m. with kickstands up at 11 a.m. The ride will begin and end at Samuel Staples Elementary School, located at 515 Morehouse Road in Easton.
"Since 1946, when the organization was created, we have been in the same building (originally built in 1928); repairs and maintenance have proven to be more costly than replacement and all too time-consuming," EMS officials wrote on the group's website. "Our current building requires us to special order ambulances because our garage bays are too small to fit a standard ambulance. Our organization has grown and our current headquarters can not support the resources critically needed to fulfill our mission."
