Multiple Attempts At Identity Theft Top Redding Police Blotter
12 motor vehicle accidents and 3 attempts at identity theft topped the Redding police blotter this week.
REDDING, CT — Three residents complained to Redding police about attempts to scam them involving identity theft this past week.
On Jan. 4, a Route 107 / Meadow Ridge resident told police that someone called her stating they were from Amazon, inquiring about an order of $1,409.09 that she had placed. The complainant advised the caller that she had not placed any order with Amazon, and after some personal questions were asked the complainant hung up the phone, realizing that it was a scam, according to police.
On Jan. 8, an Indian Road resident reported to police that someone attempted to open up a bank account through Santander Bank in his name. A couple of days earlier, there was another complaint of attempted ID theft from a Lonetown Road resident.

A driver rounding a very sharp curve westbound on Route 107 lost control on the curve and rolled the vehicle over onto its roof on Jan. 3, according to an accident report. No injuries were reported.
The Redding Police Department reported 11 motor vehicle accidents over a three-day period last week, all attributed to the snow and ice covered roadways from the snowstorm that had occurred Jan. 5. Church Hill Road, Peaceable Street, Church Street, Wayside Lane, Poverty Hollow Road, Stepney Road, and Routes 53 and 58 were all the scenes of crashes. No injuries were attributed to any of them,
