Near-Misses On Route 107 Top Redding Police Blotter For Apr. 18-23

REDDING, CT — A couple of very close calls on Route 107 and a hacked business payroll were atop the Redding Police Department's blotter last week.
Two vehicles traveling in opposite directions along a narrow stretch of Pinetree Road on Apr. 19 sideswiped each other, causing damage to both. No injuries were reported, and no enforcement action was taken, according to the police report.
On Apr. 20, a Route 107 resident filed a complaint claiming someone had hacked into their business payroll account. No loss has been reported, and the investigation remains open.

A deer did not survive a run-in with a car traveling northbound on Route 107 on Apr. 23. According to police, the animal ran into the road in front of the vehicle, striking and doing some damage to it. The deer was later found dead in the northbound lane of the road. No motorist was injured, according to the report.
Neither were there any injuries reported when a large tree limb fell atop a car traveling southbound on Route 107 on Apr. 23. The branch smashed and partially penetrated the front windshield.

The Redding Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Unit are still in the midst of the untimely death investigation at a private residence on Old Stagecoach Road last Friday. On Tuesday, Chief Mark O'Donnell told Patch "they are waiting to hear back from the Medical Examiner's Office."
