EASTON, CT-- Easton resident Alicia Wettenstein has joined The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk as its new Director of Development, officials announced.
Wettenstein, previously Director of Development at Mill River Park Collaborative in Stamford, will be responsible for cultivating, stewarding and communicating with donors, and will work closely with the Aquarium’s Board and President Dr. Brian Davis.
Among her duties will be to develop and implement organizational best practices for fund-raising and donor stewardship.
Wettenstein graduated manga cum laude from Sacred Heart University and began her career in education and human resources before transitioning to the non-profit sector, according to the aquarium.
Prior to working at Mill River Park, she was part of the senior management team of The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, now know as Serious Fun Network, the global organization devoted to creating residential camps for critically ill and at-risk children throughout the world.
Wettenstein brings "a wealth of knowledge in donor relations and non-profit management to the Aquarium team, and she is deeply committed to assisting The Maritime Aquarium grow, and to increasing the Aquarium's role as a conduit for the community."
In addition to her work at the Aquarium, Wettenstein volunteers for several organizations committed to improving the lives of children at-risk in South Africa.
A lifelong resident of Connecticut, Wettenstein grew up in Wilton and now lives in Easton with her husband, Bruce. They have two adult children, who live and work in New York City.
