REDDING, CT —The Metropolitan Transit Authority has confirmed that, perhaps amazingly, no one was injured when a train rammed into a car stuck on the train tracks at the West Redding Train Station.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday. An unidentified man had driven his car onto the tracks, mistaking them for the entrance to a pizza parlor. The man was attempting to free his car from where it was stuck on the tracks right up until moments before the train struck.

MTA officials said the 12 riders aboard the train were transferred to buses, and service was restored by 9:50 p.m. The tracks were not damaged, the MTA reported.
