Nude Photos, ID Theft & DUI Top Redding Police Blotter For May 23-30
A stranger tried to blackmail a Redding resident with nude photos obtained on Instagram, according to police.

On May 23, a Sherman Turnpike resident complained to the Redding police that someone had stolen his identity and then received unemployment benefits in his name. That investigation remains open.
On the same day, a Portland Avenue resident told police the nude photos they had distributed on Instagram had been obtained by a stranger. The unknown person was now issuing "blackmail requests" for $500 gift cards, under threat the photos would be released. That investigation also remains open, according to Redding Chief of Police Mark O'Donnell.

A motorist backed into the rear bumper of another vehicle in the parking lot of the Boys & Girls Club on Cross Highway on May 25. Both vehicles were damaged, but no one was injured, police said.
On May 27, the Redding Police Department charged Courtney Fraser, 34, of Stratford, with DUI after she rolled her vehicle over while traveling on Route 7. Police also cited Fraser for driving on the wrong side of the road. She was released on a $200 bond and scheduled to appear before Danbury Superior Court on June 6. Fraser was unharmed in the accident.

Less fortunate was the deer which ran across the path of a vehicle traveling northward on Umpawaug Road on May 30. The deer was struck and killed, but the motorist was uninjured, police said
