REDDING, CT — Elizabeth (Betty) Licarie, widow of her beloved husband Richard (Dick) Licarie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 31, at the age of 86.

Born on June 11, 1937, Betty was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Julia DeLuca of Georgetown.

Betty was a long time Redding resident who was continually active in the community. She volunteered at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House and Mark Twain Library book fair for many years, as well as worked the election polls. She belonged to St. Patrick's Parish where she sang in the choir. Betty received the St. Augustine Medal from the Catholic Church. While raising four children, Betty also worked for Perkin-Elmer, Joel Barlow High School and the town of Redding as the comptroller.

Betty is survived by her children Richard Licarie (Linda), Karen Kugler, Susan Cocking and Michael Licarie. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael Licarie, Ian Cocking, Adam Cocking, Andrew Kugler, Zachary Kugler, her brother Fred DeLuca (Candelas) and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her beloved husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her older sister Antoinette Hasbany, older brothers Peter DeLuca, Albert DeLuca, Tony DeLuca, Sam DeLuca, and nieces Annemarie DeLuca and Gloria Hasbany.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church St. Georgetown.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Sept. 8, at St. Patrick Church, 169 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery, Redding.
