Obituary: Helen Weiler Vollhardt, 95, of Redding

After retiring as secretary for the Board of Education of Easton and Redding, Helen enjoyed spending time with family.

REDDING, CT -- Helen Weiler Vollhardt, 95, of Redding, died at her home on Thursday, June 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY November 13, 1922, daughter of the late Bruno and Theresa Weiler. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Philipp F. Vollhardt and by their son Philipp R. Vollhardt who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1971.

Helen is survived by her children: Frederick and his wife Mary Vollhardt, Stephany and her husband Jerry Hyres, Richard and his wife Anne Marie Vollhardt and Susan and her husband Peter Klipfel. She also leaves behind nine adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special thank you to Monica, her devoted caretaker of seven years.

After retiring as secretary for the Board of Education of Easton and Redding, she enjoyed spending time with family. Her gardens were adorned with irises from Brooklyn and have been passed through generations much like her abiding love for her family.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Sunday, July 1 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 169 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding, Monday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Redding Ridge Cemetery, Redding.
