Obituary: Helge Svenson, 89, Of Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, CT — Helge Svenson, age 89, peacefully left to be with his beloved wife, Dorothy Svenson, in heaven on Aug. 2, 2023. Helge passed away, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Helge was born on Sept. 26, 1933 and is a native of Georgetown, Connecticut, spent most of his career as the owner and lead machinist of Svenson Machine and Design, Inc. Helge was a “life” member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving cars for Bruce Bennett Nissan. In Helge’s free time, he loved to spend time with friends and family, going out to eat, and going on the boat. Family was so important to him, and he took every opportunity to be with them.

Most importantly, Helge was a member of the Covenant Church of Easton, and a devoted follower of Jesus. He raised his family in the church, and was very involved in church activity.
Helge will be remembered for his extreme generosity, kind, loving spirit, and great sense of humor.

Helge is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy, and by his son, Norman. He leaves behind his sons Mark (Laura) of Georgetown, Gary (Karen) of Oxford, 13 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 6 until 8pm on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023 at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Wilton, CT

A Memorial / Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 at the Covenant Church of Easton, 1 Sport Hill Road, Easton, CT.
