Obituary: John Stanley Marozik, Of Weston

John served aboard at least seven ships, in the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of World War II, until August 1945.

WESTON, CT — John Stanley Marozik, formerly of Weston, peacefully passed away Saturday April 4, 2020 in Ridgefield.

John was born Sunday May 13, 1923 in Providence, RI, the son of Adam Marozik and Helena
Laniewska.

John attended Hope High School of East Side, Providence. He enlisted in the US Navy, and then
entered the US Merchant Marine. John served aboard at least seven ships, in the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of World War II, until August 1945. His service decoration include: The Merchant Marine Emblem, The Atlantic War Zone Bar, The Pacific War Zone Bar, and The Combat Bar with Stars.

After Separation of Service, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, in Providence RI. John moved to New York City for a career as a textile designer in the menswear industry, and in 1959 met his wife, Helga Kuemmel. Together, they raised a family in Locust Valley, NY and Weston. John designed for JP Stevens, Burlington Industries, and Fox-Wells & Co. In 1973, John changed careers to eventually become an insurance field agent for Northwestern Mutual Life, until his retirement.

John Marozik lived with zest and curiosity. He was a culinary enthusiast, marveled the wonders of nature, and was deeply dedicated to his family.

Surviving are his wonderful wife of 60 years, Helga Marozik; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Marozik and Tom Benson; his three sons, John Michael Marozik, Andy Marozik, Peter Marozik; and his three grandchildren, Otto Benson, Madison Marozik, Jordan Marozik.

The family is especially grateful to the Jarvie Program for their many years of continued care and
support.

A private service will be held by the family.
