Obituary: Michael John Turcsany, 81, of Easton

EASTON, CT -- Michael John Turcsany, 81, devoted husband of Valerie Domian Turcsany for 59 years, passed away July 6, 2018 in Simpsonville, SC.

Formerly of Fairfield and Easton, Michael was born in Bridgeport on January 22, 1937 to the late Michael and Mary Marciniak Turcsany. He was a graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School, class of 1955. Michael served proudly in the U.S.Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga. After serving, he worked for Chubb and Son Insurance. He owned M.J. Turcsany Landscaping for more than 35 years.

Michael is survived by daughters Trisha Turcsany of West Haven and Michele Turcsany Salerno and husband Anthony of Simpsonville, SC, and his beloved grandchildren; Michael J. Curtin, Mya and Abigail Salerno. Also survived by his brother James Turcsany and his wife Susan of Bridgeport, brother-in-law Al Domian and his wife Constance of Wilmington, DE, their children as well as many cousins and dear friends. Michael was predeceased by his son, Michael Jay Turcsany.

Michael was a lifetime member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department and worked the barbeque at the carnival for many years. Michael was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox, fishing, bowling, pinochle and watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a good dancer and could make anyone laugh with his great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will take place July 27, 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, and McCall Hospice House.
