Obituary: Robert Francis Dwyer (Bob), 93, Of Redding
For many years, Bob worked at Union Carbide, and held the rights to many patents from his years in research chemistry.

REDDING, CT — Robert Francis Dwyer (Bob) passed away at the age of 93 on July 14, 2023 at Meadow Ridge, Redding. Bob was born February 20, 1930 to Francis Stephen Dwyer and Margaret Ione Toy Dwyer in Utica, NY. He spent his boyhood in Utica, NY, where he met the love of his life, Margaret Mary Kinchellagh. They were married January 31, 1953.
Bob earned his BS in Chemistry from Syracuse University and MS in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. He began his career with Union Carbide Corporation in Buffalo, NY as an analytical chemist in 1953. He held the rights to many patents from his years in research chemistry. Rising through the corporate ranks, Bob served as Director of Administration for Union Carbide’s corporate and research campus at Tarrytown. After retirement from Union Carbide, Bob served as Vice President of Keren Developments, managing The Landmark at Eastview for several years.

Bob was a dedicated volunteer over the years in church, civic and community organizations, receiving the Presidential Award for his leadership of the Summer Jobs for Youth Program. Bob was an Eagle Scout in Utica, NY and in 1983 was awarded the Distinguished Eagle Award from the Westchester/Putnam Council. The Distinguished Eagle recognizes individuals who have excelled within their profession and volunteer endeavors.
Above all else, Bob was devoted to his family. After retirement, Bob and Margie enjoyed traveling throughout the US, but their greatest joy came from loving their grandchildren.

Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Margaret Mary Dwyer, his parents and a brother, S. William Dwyer. He is survived by his daughters, Eleanor Dwyer (Julie Wolfer) and Mary Dixon (Leonard). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Robert Dixon (Jennifer), Emily Caldwell, Erica Rigby (Lydia) and Benjamin Rigby, four great-grandchildren, Darius and Reese Caldwell, Evelyn and Charlotte Dixon, his devoted sister-in-law, Sister M. deMontfort, and his “favorite” niece, Margaret Dwyer (Ethan Pirk).
Burial will be private.
