Easton Police ID Man Killed in Head-on Collision: UPDATE

The crash occurred along Route 59 in the area of 757 Stepney Road on Sunday.

EASTON, CT — Police have identified the man killed in a head-on collision Sunday afternoon.

Andy Rivera, 36, of Redding, who was driving one of the two vehicles involved, died in the crash, and five others were injured. The crash occurred along Route 59 in the area of 757 Stepney Road at 5:33 p.m.

Riding in Rivera's vehicle at the time of the accident were two female family members, ages 62 and 6 years old. The second vehicle involved in the accident was driven by a 50-year-old female who had her daughter and another female in her vehicle, both 17 years old. They are international visitors who were in the area while on vacation, according to Easton Police Chief Tim Shaw.

Of the five people injured, three are currently still being treated in local hospitals. The two teens were treated and released., according to the police report.

"We mourn with the families affected by this tragic accident, and once again thank all the first responders who arrived on scene to assist the Easton Police Department," Chief Shaw said.
