PINK AID Announces Toll-free Breast Cancer Support Hotline for CT Residents

CT residents faced with breast cancer can call Support Connection's toll-free line at 800-532-4290 to connect with a peer counselor.

(Westport, CT) Pink Aid (www.pinkaid.org), a not-for-profit organization based in Westport, CT, is pleased to announce the launch of a new service through its partnership with Support Connection, Inc. (www. supportconnection.org) that will enable CT residents dealing with breast cancer to receive confidential, personalized, expert support and guidance, free of charge, via toll-free telephone hotline.

The grant from Pink Aid will help fund Support Connection’s One-on-One Peer Counseling Program for those affected by breast cancer. Through this program, the Peer Counselors on Support Connection’s staff (cancer survivors themselves) provide individualized support, information and guidance. Peer Counseling can be utilized at any time during a person’s journey with cancer, with no limits. It is also available to family members and friends.

Peer Counselors answer questions, provide counseling and support, make additional service referrals, help navigate medical systems and listen as often and as long as necessary. Calls are taken Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. After hours messages are returned the next business day. Support can also be provided by email, and in-person at the Support Connection office in Yorktown Heights, NY. There is no charge for these services.
