Redding artist Gregory Maroun to Exhibit at Agora Gallery NYC
NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Redding artist Gregory Maroun in From Here to There.

Gregory Maroun creates characters and forms with nets of carefully placed ink and fine linear patterns. At times printed or drawn directly in an intricate system of pen, each image builds dimension out of this graphic quality. Maroun’s works often depict human figures, be they portraits or mid-action, and he uses overlain lines to contour and even contradict the forms of faces, hair, and limbs. Each pattern becomes akin to thread or lace, sometimes integrated into the figures and at other times appearing as if worn on the bodies. The lines twist and warp through each image, melding the subject and environment in compositions that appear full of movement even in the most static, direct portraits. Restricting his work primarily to black, white, and grey with the occasional intervention of warm, saturated color, Maroun allows his figures to fade and lines trail off into space, as every part of the image becomes a play of light and dark.
With his works Maroun observes and explores the emotional and physical nature of humanity. He creates images that balance a transparent draftsmanship with recognizable humanity.

About the Exhibition
A Journey of Epic Proportions: “From Here to There”
Seventeen artists collaborate in the exhibition From Here to There to bring a New York audience on a magnificent journey of self-discovery, expression, and realization. Buzzing in energy, color, form, and texture, the works on display hint at real worlds while obscuring just enough to direct the viewer’s experience and effectively control the conversation. Abstractions flourish across canvas, while figures bend and transform before the viewers’ eyes. Varying on the scale of fiction and reality, the artworks featured tell a unique story of humanity, nature, and society in inventive ways. Most of all, however, they tell a story of movement and change: making this an exhibition that truly takes you from one state of mind to somewhere completely new and exciting.
