Redding DUI Driver Had Heroin In Car: Newtown PD

The motorist was driving erratically before being pulled over by officers, according to police.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Redding man was arrested on DUI and other charges following a report of an erratic driver, according to police.

A concerned citizen placed a 911 call regarding an erratic driver on I-84 Jan. 22. The caller reported that a GMC Blazer had swerved over all three lanes of travel on the highway. The vehicle almost hit someone head-on and came to a dead stop in the middle of Wasserman Way before continuing in to Queen Street, police said.

Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Michael Paradise, 32, of Redding. He failed DUI tests and a search of his vehicle found multiple bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

He was charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, possession of a narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $1,000 bond.
