REDDING, CT — A high school parking lot collision and a Publisher's Clearing House scam topped the Redding Police Department blotter the week of Mar. 14-20.
On Mar. 15, police charged Andrew Steinhart, 30, with criminal trespass and breach of peace after they say he entered someone else's room at the Days Inn on Route 7. Steinhart was "argumentative, throwing garbage around," according to Redding Chief of Police Mark O'Donnell. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Thursday.
A Meadow Ridge resident complained of being scammed out of some personal information by someone claiming to be representing Publishers Clearing House on Mar. 16, according to a Redding police report. The complainant's bank was notified, and the account was cancelled.

The Redding police responded to a report of vehicle driven into a ditch on Umpawaug Road on Mar. 18, only to find the driver attempting to leave the scene on foot as officers arrived, according to their report. They charged Omar Carrillo-Lucero, 30, of East Liberty Street in Danbury with DUI, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving without a license. He was released on a $25 cash bond and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Apr. 7.
On Mar. 17, a report of a vehicle seen off the road on Route 107 near Old Mailcoach Road brought police, who said the driver had admitted to falling asleep and then driving off into the woods. This incident is still under investigation.

There were no injuries following a 2-vehicle collision in the Joel Barlow High School parking lot on Mar. 14. Two more vehicles collided, police report, when one backed out of a parking space on Main Street into another driving by, on Mar. 19.
A mailbox/stonewall emerged victorious in a clash with a single vehicle on Mar. 20. No injuries were reported. There were no other details available from the police.
