Police in Redding finished out May tackling three cases of suspected fraud, as well a few motor vehicle accidents.

REDDING, CT — Police in Redding finished out May tackling three cases of suspected fraud, as well a few motor vehicle accidents.

On Tuesday, a Gallows Hill Road resident reported that he received a welcome package from TD Bank. Unfortunately for the scam artist, that resident banks with Peoples' not TD, and so he contacted the police. Police believe someone may have stolen the resident's social security number. The case is under investigation.

No injuries were reported in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, when one vehicle crossed the double yellow line while driving southbound on Route 7 according to the police report. The vehicle struck mirrors with another vehicle driving in the opposite direction. The driver in the first vehicle was issued a warning for failure to drive in the right, and failure to maintain proper lane.

Police report that a wallet containing $600 was stolen from a vehicle overnight Friday on Portland Avenue. The wallet was later found in Westport.

A Pine Tree Road resident reported to police on Friday that someone opened up a credit card in his name from the Bank of America. The case is still under investigation.

The next day, a Costa Lane resident reported receiving an email from PayPal regarding a purchase of $349. Unfortunately for the scam artist, the resident does not have a PayPal account, and realized that it was an attempted scam.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a downed tree on Route 107 near Blueberry Hill Road on Saturday. The front of the vehicle sustained some damage, according to police.

On Sunday, there was a two-vehicle accident on Route 107. No injuries were reported.
