Redding Police Reports: Animal Cruelty, Elderly Man Dies, Etc.

REDDING, CT—The following information comes from the Redding Police Department. Any criminal charges represent accusations by the state. Anyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
- May 12, 2020: Untimely Death - Old Hattertown Road
Police responded to a report of a unresponsive 92-year-old male at a residence on Old Hattertown Road. At this time, police believe the cause of death appears to be natural.
- May 13, 2020: Motor vehicle accident with no injury - Route 53
According to police, a driver was headed northbound on Route 53, rounding a slight curve, near the intersection of Diamond Hill Road. The vehicle struck a guard rail in the northbound lane, then crossed over and struck another guard rail in the southbound lane, police said. Police said the driver, Luana Perry, was issued a misdemeanor summons for failure to keep right and for operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

- May 15, 2020: Warrant issued by Superior Court in Danbury
According to police, this case stems from a motor vehicle accident (MVA) vs. goat (injured) that occurred on April 30, 2020 on Cross Highway in front of #147. "It was subsequently investigated by Redding Animal Control Officer due to the injury, which led to the arrest," police said. Following an investigation, Nancy Burton of Redding was charged with cruelty to animals and obstruction of an animal control officer in the scope of his duties.
