Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet Wows at Lasdon Park

A Spectacular Evening of Starlight and Song

Under a waning sun, soft breezes and twinkling starlight, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet performed to a large, appreciative audience on Friday evening, July 24th, at Lasdon Park outside of Katonah.

A large audience indeed- the most attendees for a “Music in the Park” Series performance during summer 2015!

Performing a potpourri of light classical and popular favorites- from J.S. Bach to Louis Armstrong, from Paul Dukas to Mack the Knife- the combination of music and well nigh perfect weather proved to be irresistible to concertgoers.

Under the leadership of RSO Principal Trumpeter John Charles Thomas, a member of the Grammy Award-winning Chestnut Brass, the virtuoso RSO Brass Quintet ably negotiated the varied music with finesse and style. “Al fresco” musical dining at its finest, and a perfect appetizer for the RSO’s upcoming 2015-16 Season of music for full symphony orchestra!

In a season spanning October to May, the RSO performs the finest music from the orchestral repertoire. 70-members strong, the RSO particularly thrives in music written for large symphony orchestra- the upcoming concert season includes immortal masterpieces like Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Mahler’s First Symphony and Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs.
