Roadway Mishaps Dominate Redding Police Blotter Jan. 22-28

REDDING, CT — One deer was killed, but several motorists avoided damage, across a number of roadway mishaps noted on the Redding Police Department blotter for the past week.

On Jan. 22, a motorist lost control rounding a curve on Giles Hill Road and struck a guard rail. No injuries were reported, and the driver was cited for failure to keep right.

On Jan. 23, a car collided with a deer on Route 107. The animal was discovered dead on the roadway, the motorist had fled the scene.

Police investigated a report of a two-vehicle accident on Jan. 24. One motorist rounded a narrow curve on Poverty Hollow Road into the side of another vehicle. The officer cited the first motorist for failing to keep to the right side of the road. No injuries were reported.

The same day, an R.V. backed into a utility pole on Olmstead Road, knocking the wires down onto the asphalt. No one was injured, and all passengers had managed to exit the vehicle safely before the arrival of law enforcement, who cited the driver for backing up unsafely.

Also on the 24th, police report that a motorist paused at a stop sign on Portland Avenue was rear-ended by another. No one was injured, and police cited the second motorist for driving too closely.

Police could offer few details about a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 53 and Route 107 on Jan. 26, other than no injuries were reported.
