SCORE Small Business Workshop: Lessons Learned from Running a Business

This workshop will share a set of lessons learned during the daily operations of a business. Spanning sales, operations, finance, HR and more, each scenario is presented in a problem-faced, lessons-learned format and each is no more than a few minutes long. The lessons that will be presented apply to businesses of all types.

Examples of challenges and lessons learned:

· Financial: How to collect payments more quickly

· Marketing: Generate sales by establishing your business as a trusted expert

· Sales: The value of your existing customer base

· Advertising: How to get free press

· Manufacturing: The role of creativity in the manufacturing process

· HR: Company culture is bigger than the individual

· Customer Support: Customer service as a relationship builder

· Operations: What to outsource vs. do yourself

· IT: Using off-the-shelf software as a way to implement a business process

The workshop will be held at the Weston Public Library on January 21, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
