The Weston High School boys basketball team goes for its third straight victory on Friday when the Trojans host Newtown (7 p.m.) in their second-to-last regular season game of the season.
Weston improved to 10-8 with Tuesday's 40-39 win over rival Barlow, which followed last Friday's 62-59 upset of previously unbeaten Immaculate.
Following Friday's contest, Weston concludes the regular season on Tuesday at Bunnell.
Newtown also has won two straight, including Tuesday's 68-53 victory at New Milford, to improve to 8-10.
Weston is trying to nail down a spot in the SCC playoffs. At 6-6 in the conference, the Trojans are seventh, one game ahead of Masuk (5-7), Bethel (5-7) and Newtown (5-7). The top eight teams qualify.

The Barlow girls basketball team has earned the No. 7 seed for the South-West Conference playoffs and will play at No. 2 seed Pomperaug in the quarterfinals on Saturday (5 p.m.).
It marks the second straight appearance in the SWC playoffs for the Falcons, who concluded their regular season with a 49-31 win over rival Weston on Tuesday.
Drew Bartro scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked nine shots for the Falcons, who finished the regular season at 13-7 and 9-6. Brittany Dumas paced Barlow with 13 points and added eight rebounds.
Pomperaug (18-2, 14-1) suffered its first conference loss of the season on Tuesday with a 52-47 defeat to Lauralton Hall (19-1, 15-0), which is the top seed.
Barlow faced Pomperaug on Feb. 7 and put up a good fight in a 64-56 loss in Southsbury.
In the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, Pomperaug hosts No. 7 seed Kolbe Cathedral at 7 p.m.
In the other playoff doubleheader at Lauralton Hall, playoffs, No. 1 Lauralton Hall plays No. 8 Bunnell at 7 and No 5 Masuk faces No. 4 Notre Dame-Fairfield at 5 p.m.
