State Health Dept Expected to Charge Weston Doctor

The order said that the doctor prescribed opioids from 2014 to 2017 without documenting an exam or diagnosis for various patients.

WESTON, CT -- The state Medical Board on Tuesday rejected a consent order that would have imposed a fine and probation upon a Weston psychiatrist, on the grounds the proposed discipline was not strict enough, The News Times is reporting.

The psychiatrist, Dr. Harry Brown, would have been formally reprimanded, fined $25,000, made to surrender his state registration to prescribe controlled substances, and had his license placed on probation for two years.

The order said that Brown prescribed opioids from 2014 to 2017 without documenting an exam or diagnosis for various patients. He also failed to take required medical education courses from 2013 to 2016, lied about those courses on his license renewal application, and had his secretary sign prescriptions for both patients he had not seen, as well as herself.
