Service 99% Restored After Suspected Vandalism Left Many Without 'Net
Optimum Online services impacted by Friday's act of vandalism in Fairfield County have been restored to more than 99% of affected customers

REDDING, CT — A cut fiber has shut down internet access to nearly 5,000 Optimum Online subscribers in Redding and Weston early Friday afternoon.

The damage to the connection was "caused by suspected vandalism," according to a tweet from Optimum Online customer service.
"Our teams are onsite repairing the extensive damage, which may cause service interruptions into Saturday," the telco spokesperson posted.

According to the Optimum outage map, 2,506 Redding customers, and another 2,402 Weston customers are unable to access the 'net just before 2 p.m. on Friday. The service outage stretches from Shea Island to western Greenwich to eastern Fairfield to northwest Redding, affecting around 16,000 customers.
