Town Of Weston Publishes Coronavirus Update For December 18

Good evening. It is 4:30 pm on Friday, December 18, 2020 and this is First Selectman Christopher Spaulding with a coronavirus update.

As of December 18, 2020 we have had 10 new positive COVID test results for Weston residents since our last outreach on December 11th, 2020. http://wwhd.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Web-update-December-18-2020.pdf

A Travel advisory is in place for Connecticut, however if you are still considering traveling over the holidays, please follow the travel and quarantine guidance posted here

In addition Weston Public Schools will be in temporary distance learning from December 14th to January 7th. Please see here for more information

If you haven’t done so already, consider signing up for the COVID CT Alert App – Connecticut’s contact tracing program. Instructions on how to sign up are here

Residents should also report positive cases directly to the Westport/Weston Health Department http://wwhd.org/ so contact tracing can be started immediately in order to contain the spread of the virus. The office line is 203 227 9571.

As a reminder COVID testing is available at area hospitals and urgent care facilities as well as at St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Facility on Long Lots Road. You can call to book an appointment at 1-860-972-8100. No prescription is required.

We continue to ask residents to practice social distancing when out in public, wear masks, and wash/sanitize hands frequently. Please see the state latest guidance here

This virus has shown us that it only takes one infected person to spread COVID 19 to several others in intimate settings where no masks are worn or social distance is not maintained. Asymptomatic spread of the virus can occur in gatherings of any size. The state has posted guidelines, which limit gatherings to no more than 10 people. See here
