"We knew we had to take care of Kyley and Meg (Ruonavaara)," said Weston Head Coach Jamie Charles. "They were no surprise. We struggled when they got good sets. We struggled to touch the balls on defense."

Ruonavaara had 15 kills and 25 digs. She also played an excellent defensive game, according to Rocky Hill Volleyball Head Coach George McKinnon.

Besides Reed and Ruonavaara, sophomore Kelsey Ott shined for the Terriers. She was 20-25 from the service line with three aces and 13 service points.

"She has really stepped up this year and really helped out the varsity immensely," McKinnon said. "She has been playing awesome."

Krista Iacabucci was 16-18 from the service line with 10 points and 11 digs. She also played great defense, McKinnon said. Setter Julie Stoneburner added 48 assists and was 9-11 from the service line.

Charles said that the height of the Rocky Hill players played a factor in the game. The Weston High School blockers even at the height of their jumps could not stop some of the attacks by the Terriers, she added.

"You know this is some of the best defense and heart I have seen from my girls," Charles said. "I know it is very hard on them. I am very proud of them. It was a great night of volleyball."

The Terriers enjoyed their biggest crowd of the season and it helped provide a spark for the young ladies.

"It's great to have that and the kids feed off that," McKinnon said. "This was awesome today.”

The Terriers came out firing, but struggled through out the contest. At times, the girls looked tired. McKinnon said the gymnasium was hot and even, requested the doors be opened. He even took extra timeouts through out the match to rest his team and get them water.

"They were feeling the heat. At the end, they pulled through like they have done all year."

Rocky Hill will battle Tolland at Tolland High School on Monday at 6 p.m. The Terriers lost both matches to Tolland. They lost 3-2 at Tolland and 3-1 at home.

"Since the last time we played them, I think we are a lot stronger of a team," McKinnon said. "The kids are ready for them. The third time's a charm."
