Unknown White Powder Prompts Hazmat Response In Weston

WESTON, CT — An unknown white powder found inside a Weston building prompted a hazardous materials investigation Monday morning, according to the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters and police were dispatched to 12 Old Mill Road at approximately 11:20 a.m. following the report.

Hazardous materials technicians entered the building to investigate and conduct preliminary testing. Officials later determined the powder came from a discharged fire extinguisher and did not pose a hazard.

A total of 17 Weston firefighters responded to the incident, with assistance from the Weston Police Department. The last fire unit cleared the scene at approximately 1:09 p.m.
