View the winter moon in all its glory at New Pond Farm on February 13, 2016
View and discuss the moon and winter constellations such as Gemini, Taurus, and Auriga with a team of Astronomers.

New Pond Farm, 101 Marchant Rd. West Redding, is hosting an astronomy program that is open to the public on Saturday, February 13th, starting at 6:30 pm. Participants should be sure to arrive at the early start time in order to watch the International Space Station (ISS) fly by. Astronomers will point out and discuss winter constellations such as the Gemini twins, Taurus the bull, and Auriga the charioteer. The Moon will again be an exciting target for viewing and possibly taking photos through the telescope with your smartphone, weather permitting.
A mini-lesson on what will be visible in the night sky will be offered in the classroom of the education building from 6 – 6:30 pm in an effort to help all, especially children, understand what they will see once out on the hill. This is included in the program fee.
Participants should dress warmly and bring a flashlight for the walk from the parking area to the observatory. Participants may also want to bring lawn chairs and binoculars.
