Weston 5k Memorial Day Road Race Returns This Weekend
Sponsored by the Weston High School PTO, the race will be part of the town's Memorial Day festivities, which run all weekend long.

WESTON, CT — The Weston 5k Memorial Day Road Race is returning Saturday, after a 3-year hiatus.
Sponsored by the Weston High School Parent Teacher Organization, the event will be part of the town's Memorial Day festivities, which run all weekend long.
Organizers describe the race as Weston's biggest sporting event of the year, and it's tough to argue otherwise. Over 300 runners have registered as of Monday morning for a slate of events that has grown to include competitions for all ages and ability levels.

The last few weeks have been all about drumming up in interest. That hasn't been hard to do, said Jean-Claude Oligario, one of the of race organizers.
"People are just sick of being stuck indoors, and you just have to remind them of all the fun things we did last time."

Registration for the 5K Run/Walk, 5K Student Run, 1-Mile Kids Fun Run, and remote Virtual 5K events is online here. All proceeds from the races fund enhancements to the Weston High School curriculum.
The first, second, and third place male and female finishers will receive $100, $50 and $25 gift cards from Fleet Feet. There will also be medals awarded for the top three men’s and women's 5K Run finishers in 11 age categories.
Commemorative plaques for the overall top men's and women's finishers will also be awarded.
The whole thing kicks off by the flagpole at Weston High school at 8 a.m. for the kids' events, 8:30 a.m. for the road race, and 8:35 a.m for the walk at. Pick-up for the bibs begins Thursday afternoon, and continues Friday afternoon and Saturday, race day.
Additional "Kids Fun" events will include an inflatable obstacle course, 100-meter sprint, and 400-meter run. There will be award ribbons for every child.
