The boys basketball team continued its impressive start under first-year coach Mike Hvizdo with a 57-56 victory over Staples on Tuesday in the Ridgefield holiday tournament.
Max Molinsky scored a game-high 25 points for the Trojans, who improved to 4-0 and advanced to the finals on Thursday at 8 p.m. against host Ridgefield, a 64-32 winner over Newtown.

Staples and Newtown will meet in the consolation game at 6 p.m.
Molinsky hit the winning basket for Weston in the final minute. Lyle Mitchell chipped in with 10 points for the Trojans.
Peter Rankowitz and James Frusciante each had 13 points for the Wreckers, who dropped to 1-3. Ross Whelan chipped in with 10 for Staples.

Lou Martinez scored 33 points as University rolled to an 84-57 victory over host Barlow in the Barlow Holiday tournament.
Phil Moriber scored 22 points and Jake Lightman added 16 for the Falcons (2-3).
University built a 32-28 halftime lead, then outscored Barlow 52-29 in the second half to advance to Thursday's championship game against Kaynor Tech (8 p.m.).
Barlow will take on Law in the consolation contest at 6 p.m.

The Weston girls basketball team defeated Wilton 57-53 Tuesday for its first win of the season.
Ellie Martin had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds rebounds for the Trojans, who improved to 1-4.
Maddy Fulton scored 22 points and Alyssa Malvarosa contributed 18 to pace the Warriors, who slipped to 3-2.

Brittney Dumas scored 18 points to lead the Barlow girls basketball team to a 57-31 win over Platt Tech in the North Haven tournament.
Victoria Shea added eight points and assists for the Falcons (5-1). Drew Bartro added added eight points, six blocks and seven steals.
Barlow will take on Hyde in the championship game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
