Free Throw Dominance Continues for Cottrell

This past weekend, Christiana Cottrell (pictured), a seventh-grader at , won the Fairfield County Elks national “hoop shoot” free throw contest for the second year in a row. 

Cottrell, who only turned 12 years old a month ago, won the 13U division by sinking 21 of 25 free throws. In addition, she also won another honor and was the high scorer of the competition, outscoring the next closest competitor, an eighth-grade boy, who sank 18 of 25 shots.

Cottrell will now advance to the district championships, where she will compete for a chance to go to the state and possibly the national free throw shooting championships.
