Weston-Barlow Scores And Standings: Jan. 30

The boys basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak Friday with a 78-62 victory over New Milford.

Charlie DiPasquale scored 22 points for the Trojans, who improved to 7-6 and now need one win to clinch a state tournament  berth.

Max Molinsky scored 15 points and Erik Dammen-Brower added 12 for Weston, which had started the season with a a 6-1 record before hitting its tailspin.

Lyle Mitchell grabbed 12 rebounds for the Trojans whike Molinsky grabbed eight boards.

After taking a 16-14 lead after the first quarter, Weston extended its edge to 36-30 at the half. The Trojans then put away the contest by outscoring the Green Wave 25-15 in the third period to take a 61-45 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Barlow boys basketball team missed a chance to reach .500 on Friday, suffering a 68-47 loss at Stratford.

Marcus Vereen scored 20 points and Kinshawn Pettway added 14 for the Red Devils, who improved to 7-5.

Joey Greenspan had 18 for the Falcons, who dropped to 6-8. Nolan Stauffer was held to four points.

Stratford built an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 38-23 at the half.  The Red Devils then outscored the Falcons 19-12 in the third period to take a commanding 57-35 lead into the final period.

Brittany Dumas scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Barlow girls basketball team won its 10th game of the season Friday with a 55-24 victory over Stratford.

Sarah McAniff added eight points for the Falcons, who improved to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the SWC.

Barlow built a 31-17 halftime lead, then held Stratford to only seven points in the second half.

The Weston girls basketball team dropped to 6-8 following a 48-40 loss to New Milford on Friday.

Ellie Martin scored 13 points and Lianna Hursch added 10 to lead the Trojans.

New Milford built a 9-7 lead after the first quarter before Weston outscored the Green Wave 15-8 in the second period to take a 22-17 halftime lead.

However, the Trojans were outscored 19-3 in the third quarter, giving New Milford a 36-25 lead enter the final eight minutes.
