Kim Guerin lost her consolation match to No.3 seed Melissa Lord of Bloomfield 6-3, 6-4 Thursday in the U-16 division of the New England section championships at the Yale courts.

-- Redding opened play in the District One Little League tournament in impressive fashion Wednesday routing Stamford Northrop, 23-2. Weston opened with a 7-1 loss to Norwalk.

Redding is back in action on Friday against North Stamford at Stamford's Chestnut Hill Park (5:30 p.m.) while Weston also plays again on Friday against Wilton at Wilton's Bill Terry Field (7:30 p.m.).

-- In Thursday's only game in the District Two tournament, Trumbull American remained unbeaten with a 10-0 win over North End.

Easton, which earned its first win in round robin play with a 6-4 victory over Park City on Wednesday, plays again on Saturday against Stratford (3 p.m., Blackham 1).
