The Weston Super 8's held on to defeat Ridgefield 9-8 on Wednesday at Ridgefield's Scalzo Field.

Myles Lehrman was the hitting and fielding star, drillin a bases-loaded triple early in the game, then making a diving catch in the outfield in the last inning.

With the potential tying run on third and winning run on first, Dante Esposito then struck out the last two hitters to preserve the victory.

The Super 8's are now 3-0 and play a rematch with Ridgefield at Bisceglie Field at Monday night.

The Westport senior American Legion team concludes its regular season with a doubleheader against Ridgefield on Saturday (9:30 a.m. at Staples) and a single game against Fairfield on Sunday (9 a.m., Notre Dame of Fairfield High School.

Redding/Easton began play in the 10-year-old District One softball tournament on Wednesday with a 7-5 loss to District Three champion Seymour at Bridgeport's Black Rock (5:30 p.m.)

On Thursday, Redding/Easton took on District Four winner North Branford and dropped a 10-4 decision to fall to 0-2 in pool play.

On Saturday, it plays District Two winner Fairfield, then closes out pool play on Monday against District Five winner Wallingford.
