Weston's Bernie D'Amato, who reached the quarterfinals of the Connecticut Amateur championship last month, is entered in the New England Amateur championship, which begins Tuesday at the Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, R.I.

Also entered is Shorehaven's Tommy McDonagh, who is playing in his first tournament since winning the Connecticut Amateur and Ike championships last month in a four-day span.
This will be the first tournament for McDonagh, who plays out the Shorehaven Country Club, since he won the Connecticut Amateur championship and the Ike Campionship in a span of five days last month.

Other local players include Shorehaven's Cameron Wilson and New Canaan's Brian Tohir and William Delano.
Weston's Max Macey, a rising junior at St. Luke's, is entered in the USTA boys 18 claycourt championships, which begin Sunday in Delray Beach, Fla.
According to Tennis Recruiting Network, Macey is ranked second in Connecticut in his age group, trailing only Fairfield's Nolan Paige, who is also playing in the claycourt championships.
However, he lost his first match Monday to Brendan McClain of Ventura, Ca., 6-0, 6-2, and dropped into the consolation bracket.
In a scheduling quirk, he will face former Staples standout Danny Hirschberg on Tuesday.
The Westport senior American Legion team finished the season with a 8-19 record after Sunday's 3-1 loss to Fairfield. The junior squad completed the year at 10-16 after Monday's scheduled finale with Stamford was cancelled.
Redding/Easton, 0-3 in the 10-year-old section one softball tournament, had its pool play finale against Wallingford.on Monday postponed to Tuesday at Ellsworth Field in Bridgeport.
