Redding defeated Stamford Springdale 16-5 Tuesday in the District Two Little League tournament.

With the win, Redding improved to 3-1 in pool play and stay in the running for a playoff spot.  The team is in third place in pool A, trailing undefeated National Lione and defending champion North Stamford, who are 3-0.

Redding has games remaining against National Lione (Saturday) and Stamford American (Sunday) on the weekend, and probably will need to win both.

Weston (1-3) picked up its first pool Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over Stamford Federal.

In the District Two 12-year-old Little League tournament, Easton (2-2) has been eliminated from the playoff round and plays its final game in pool play against Monroe on Wednesday (Blackham 2, 5:30 p.m.).

Fairfield American, Fairfield National, and Trumbull American each clinched spots with wins on Saturday.

Trumbull National (2-2) and Westport (2-2) are battling for the second and final playoff spot in the Red group behind Fairfield National.
