Fourteen of Weston's 8-year olds will be getting their first taste of travel baseball this July, as they will be representing the town as the "Weston Super 8's" in the District One Friendship League.

With games against towns such as Wilton, Easton, Ridgefield, Norwalk and Darien, these Little Leaguers will for the first time be proudly wearing uniforms that simply say "Weston."

Coach Seve Esposito believes he's blessed with a squad that some day will be finding its way to victory at the Little League World Series in Williamsport. He's collecting all of the player's autographs because he's convinced their value will skyrocket.

Weston hosted and won its first game against Wilton on Wednesday.

Redding defeated Stamford Springdale 16-5 Tuesday in the District Two Little League tournament.

With the win, Redding improved to 3-1 in pool play and stayed in the running for a playoff spot.  The team is in third place in pool A, trailing undefeated National Lione and defending champion North Stamford, who are 3-0 heading into play on Thursday.

Redding has games remaining against National Lione (Saturday) and Stamford American (Sunday) on the weekend, and probably will need to win both to have a chance to advance to next week's semifinls.

Weston (1-3) picked up its first win in pool play on Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over Stamford Federal.

In the District Two 12-year-old Little League tournament, Easton (2-2) has been eliminated from the playoff round and played its final game in pool play against Monroe on Wednesday.

Fairfield American, Fairfield National, Trumbull American have clinched spots in the double elimination playoff round.
