Catie Ledwick scored four goals Saturday as Weston won its first girls lacrosse state championship in school history with an 8-7 victory over No. 7 seed Granby Memorial in the Class S title at game at Stratford's Bunnell High School.
Frances Holmes recorded two goals and Abby Chepolis and Hannah Hutchins added one apiece for the fifth-seeded Trojans (16-6), who rallied from an early 2-0 deficit in the first half.

Saturday's victory gave Weston its first state title in a girls team sport other than tennis since 1994.
After defeating Stonington (19-2) and North Branford (16-12) in the first two rounds, Weston knocked off top seed Haddam-Killingworth 12-9 in the semifinals.

- Nine members of the Barlow and Weston boys lacrosse teams have earned Class S all-state honors. Here is the list:
Barlow: Wyatt Tompkins, first team, attack; Nolan Stauffer, second team attack; Brian Sternberg, first team, midfield; Doug Indelicato, first team defense; Nick Taylor, first team long stick defensive midfield.
Weston: Jack Scheufele, first team defense; Kip McMahon, first team defense; Alex Peyreigne, second team goal; Eddie Hutchins, second team short stick defensive midfield.
Barlow reached the Class S championship game on Saturday, losing to St. Joseph, 6-5.
-- Weston's David Stankiewicz finished eighth in the 300 hurdles at the New England track and field championships on Saturday in Burlington, Vermont with a time of 1:56.32.
Also, Weston's Stephen Vento was ninth in the 3,200-meter run (9:18.04). In the girls pole vault, Weston's Erica Litvak tied for sixth with a jump of 10 feet, nine inches.
-- Eddie Hutchins, who set a Weston single-season rushing record last season, has been named to the Farfield County All-Star team that will face the New Haven County All-Stars in the 15th annual football Hall of Fame Classic.
The game is set for July 8 at West Haven's Ken Strong Stadium. Tickets are $7 each and are available at the gate.
