-- Redding's Charlie Morton pushed the Pittsburgh Pirates to a milestone they haven't achieved in more than a decade.

Morton allowed three runs and eight hits over five innings to earn the win Wednesday in a 7-3 victory over the Astros that moved the Pirates (34-33) over .500 this late in a season for the first time since Aug. 15, 1999, when they were 59-58.

Pittsburgh has endured a major league-record 18 consecutive losing seasons.

Morton, who has an outside chance to  make the National League All-Star roster, improved to 7-3 with a  3.21 ERA.

The 27-year-old Barlow product is enjoying a break-through season as he already has  a career high in wins.  He entered 2011 with a 11-29 career mark in three seasons in the major leagues.

Weston's quartet of  Sarah Dietzman, Ellie Martin, Callie Arlo and Kara Bucaro finished second Thursday in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay at the New Balance National Championships in Greensboro, N.C., with a time of 4:12.68.
