The Barlow girls lacrosse team will be looking to unseat a dynasty on Friday when the Falcons face Newtown in the SWC championship.

Newtown, which cruised into the final with a 20-5 rout of Weston is seeking its seventh consecutive league title.

Barlow had a much closer semifinal, getting past New Fairfield, 14-12.  River Kynoch scored six goals and Amanda El-Haj added four for the Falcons.

The Falcons played Newtown close during the regular season, dropping an 11-10 decision in Redding on May 6. The championship game gets under way at 7  p.m. at Pomperaug.

Softball

Oxford 8, Weston 1

Bethel 8, Barlow -1 -- Falcons managed just one hit off Yesenia Evaristo, who struck out 14, and finished the regular season at 11-9.
