Weston-Barlow Scores and Standings: Nov. 17

The Barlow girls volleyball team has made it make to the Class M state final for the second consecutive year.

Victoria Shea recorded 21 service points and seven digs for the second-seeded Falcons, who defeated No. 3 Lauralton Hall 3-1 (25-22, 25-10, 23-25, 25-14) in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Maddy Kominski chipped in with 17 service points and 12 digs for the Falcons while Sarah McAniff added 17 digs and 11 kills.

Barlow (20-3) will take on No. 5 Rocky Hill in the finals on Saturday at Wilby High School in Waterbury at 1 p.m. Rocky Hill advanced Wednesday with a 3-2 victory (25-27, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 15-10) over No. 9 Sheehan.

Last season, Barlow lost to RHAM 3-1 in the finals.

The Barlow field hockey team will have to wait another day to have a chance to advance to the state finals.

Wednesday's contest against No. 7 seed Branford in the Class M semifinals was postponed until Thursday. The contest will be played at Fairfield Ludlowe at 6 p.m.

The sixth-seed Falcons (15-3-2-0) advanced with a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 3 seed Avon on Monday while Branford upset No. 2 Farmington, 1-0.

In the other semifinal, which also was postponed to Thursday, top seed Darien takes on FCIAC rival and No. 4 Wilton.

Darien needed overtime to get past No. 8 Guilford 2-1 on Monday while advanced with a 1-0 victory over No. 5 New Fairfield.

The finals will be played on Saturday at Wethersfield at a time to be determined.

The second-seeded Barlow girls volleyball team took on No. 3 Lauralton Hall in the semifinals of the Class M tournament on Wednesday at Fairfield Warde at 5 p.m.
